Black Child Development Week, May 14-20, 2017. NBCDI posted a series of social media graphics that feature exceptional Black children who are leading, launching, and creating in their local communities nationwide.

Historic Timeline

  • - Co-sponsored a community festival in celebration of NBCDI week.

    - Joint educational program with Firehouse Community for Black History Month

    - Formed and coordinated drama troupe composed of children from the Del Paso Heights area - performing “Eagles Who Thought they were Chickens”

  • - Community based organization sponsor and coordinator for 6th annual DIVA conference held at the CA State Capitol.

    - Community forum on Affirmative Action programs & Education led by CA Senator Diane Watson.

  • 5th Annual African American Young Women’s Conference (known as The DIVA Conference) held at Cosumnes River College for female-identified youth grades 7th-12th.

  • Assembly joint resolution commemorating National Black Child Development Week

  • - Sacramento becomes a charter member of the National Black Child Development Institute.

    - First BCDI Summer Enrichment Program.
